Amid pure nature, with one side covered with lush green hills of Western Ghats and other having pristine waters of Banasurasagar lake on its feet, it’s a place that can rejuvenate you like none other. Rightfully fulfil the Want for Serenity and solacement.
If you want to experience the same, then you have to visit the secluded heaven called Contour Island Resort & Spa. Situated a few km away from the Banasura dam in the district of Wayanad in God’s own country, Kerala.
With Panoramic view of beautiful Banasura Lake, forest and, mountain. This is the best location one can get in Wayanad.
Let me tell you where it all started. We were searching for a nice resort for Anaisha’s extended birthday celebration near Bangalore because of covid we didn’t want to travel too far. After lots of searching, we finally zeroed on Contours Island Resort & Spa, and now I am really proud of my decision 🙂
We started around 6 am from Bangalore and reached the resort around 2 pm. The journey to Wayanad is very scenic, take the Nagarhole national park road else go through Bandipur tiger reserve. The 1-km long path leading to the Resort is not very good, it’s very rocky but it has its fun & adventure.
Once we reached the resort we were just awe-struck seeing the location.
Before the check-in COVID protocol is followed shoes, hand, baggage is sanitized and the temperature is checked, Which is followed by a freshly squeezed welcome drink. The reception area has a nice decor.
The check-in process is seamless. We had booked a Pool view villa and Lake view cottage, they guide you to your room.
Pool Villa
The view from the villa is just gorgeous and you have an infinity pool with a big sit-out area. Can sit all day near the pool gazing at the scenic beauty. The rooms are big and quite spacious. The bathroom has a connecting door to the sit-out area for easy access to the pool. The sit-out is large enough for lunch, dinner, and BBQ.
Lakeview Cottage
If the selling point of the Villa was the pool, then for the Lakeview it will be the colossal balcony. The Panoramic view from the balcony cannot be described in words, you need to be there to feel it.
You have a coffee table and 2 chairs to sit and enjoy the view
The room is of a decent size, the beds are super comfortable with luxury linens, the bathroom had nice fixtures, plush towels, and top of the line toiletries.
One thing that makes this resort stand out is the customer service. The staff at the resort was incredible. Everyone is so friendly and always checking in on guest and how are they doing. They cater to every request and I don’t think, they ever say NO.
We ordered our evening snacks in our room, the reason can be seen in the picture.
The food they served was pure delight, its so delicious and the quantity was good too.
Will talk about the food later in the blog.
The resort has all the required amenities and games to keep yourself and the kids occupied. The common pool has a panoramic infinity view and the sit-out area is quite big.
As the sun started setting down, you could hear the sounds of those tiny little insects growing louder and louder.
You will get to see lots and lots of dragonflies hovering over the property. Which you never get to hear or see in the busy city life.
You need to close your doors and windows, as an insect might come in due to the lights.
The dinner is al-carte or buffet, depending on your choice. We chose al-carte as we wanted to try special dishes.
We ordered the famous Bamboo Chicken biryani made with traditional spices, steamed chicken Kerala style, Chicken gravy and one paneer gravy along with Kerala paratha and Chappati. All of the dishes were so delicious, that if someone tells me to rate it, it will difficult for me.
You can ask them to prepare baby food, For Anaisha we got her plain khichdi. They do not store food, all ingredients are sourced daily.
We planned to get up early, to enjoy the scenic beauty and hear the sound of nature, we were not disappointed. If not cloudy you will get to see the beautiful sunrise, though we were not that lucky.
Next morning, we decided to have breakfast near the common pool area and they happily agreed to it. It was a very good experience. The breakfast was good with a decent number of items for you to relish.
After breakfast, we strolled around the beautiful property to get some nice picture.
They have a huge parking space, which can be seen in the below picture
If you have a pool villa with such a view you ought to take a dip in it, and we did the same.
The staff at resorts surprised us with a cute birthday setup for Anaisha’s and a mouth-watering cake. It was such a nice gesture.
The lunch was served beside the Villa pool, we had ordered Kerala thali with Kerala style fish fry and Pepper chicken. The food as usual was just bliss.
You can even walk down to the lake through the mini-forest or you go out wandering nearby the property, we preferred to stay within the resort premises because of Anaisha.
In the evening enjoy the snacks near the common pool area, with the cool breeze passing through. You are going to enjoy every bit of it.
In the evening we requested for BBQ near the villa pool, which they wholeheartedly agreed to. The chef prepared Chicken tikka and Paneer, he wanted us to taste the local fish but sadly it was not available that day.
BBQ was worth it, in that wonderful weather with some good music.
Today’s dinner was a buffet with quite a few spread, which will delight your palate.
If you want a secluded, cosy place and you are a nature lover. No one should miss this place, you would want to keep visiting this once you stay here.
It was an unforgettable and memories embossed forever.
Again I would like to thanks the wonderful staff, who treated us like Royalty and gave us a farewell with Namaste
** As the SPA was closed due COVID, we were not able to enjoy the ayurvedic treatment. Anyways will definitely try it once we come back again
One suggestion, please visit on the full moon-day. The view of the lake of moonlight bouncing off the water will be just mesmerising.
